Introduction
When Blue Star Infotech Limited (BSIL), a global provider of software consultancy, design and development services, contracted us to conceptualise and design their Annual Report for the year 2003-04, we felt honoured.
Our initial meeting with the Chairman of the company gave us a good insight as to how they wanted to project and place their company. The Chairman had a definitive vision and plan which was to bring across the message of “solidity”, “confidence” and “reliability” to the shareholders. The legacy and backing of the Blue Star Group reinforced the above message. Their state-of-the-art infrastructure in Mumbai, Bangalore and at other parts of the world ensured high quality offshore services.
Since BSIL consciously created a business model that delivers superior and consistent shareholder value over the long term, the theme of “Built to Last” was recommended by us for this years annual report.
The design of the Annual Report was in line with the above sentiments and a minimalist approach was taken. Use of white space along with selected colour schemes gave the annual report a very international and appealing look.
A photoshoot of their infrastructure and their people in action was commissioned to capture the essence of the “Built to Last” theme. A specification was prepared for the photography so that the photographer had a very clear idea of what we were expecting. This photoshoot specification was also circulated to all their offices worldwide and the photos taken locally were sent to us by their international offices accordingly. The photoshoot specification was drawn based on the feedback of the Managing Director who wanted to project BSIL as “software consultants” rather than a BPO. A lot of people interacting with each other was portrayed rather than just shots of a mass people working on computers.
The overall design and structure was well appreciated and we made sure to keep within the budget.
