Extended Office Hours: Getting more done in a single day means that one is able to deliver high value solutions with better turnaround times. To get into this track, Dickenson has now extended its office hours from 7:00AM to 10:30PM. “This means that we can keep running with a project for 15-16 hours at a stretch, without stopping. By scheduling the timings of our staff in a change pattern, we ensure that we can do this without burning them out with fatigue” says Simi Saha, Director of Dickenson Intellinetics.
Power Backup: With ever-increasing demand placed on Reliance Energy's distribution networks, power outages have become a frequent event due to transformer failures and cable burnouts due to unbalanced loads in the system. Not only have we invested in UPSs and back-up servers, but we also installed 2 backup generators for serving the building utilities (elevators and lighting public areas) and the internal office load requirements for air-conditioning and office automation equipments. “Even if there is power outage for more than couple of hours during a bout of heavy rains during monsoon, our office should continue to function!” says Simi Saha.
Internet Bandwidth Redundancies : With everything flowing through the internet these days, it is impossible to imagine business operations without this critical medium. Dickenson has “wired” itself up with 3 separate ISPs: Reliance Communication, Tata/VSNL and MTNL, with a combined bandwidth of 4.5 MBPS. “If one service is down, we can easily switch to another to keep our communications going,” adds Simi Saha.
Media Asset Management : With a view to increase the quality of our processes and systems, Dickenson has invested heavily in establishing a Media Asset Management system to archive and transact all its branding, research, publication and client projects. Since each assignment has repeated transactions surrounding it, this system allows Dickenson to give its clients more control over their own assets on a 24X7 basis.
Office Expansion: In 2008, the Company has plans to increase its headcount by 50%, thanks to the growth in all its 3 divisions: Business Intelligence; Corporate Reporting and Creative Solutions. By the 2 nd quarter of 2008, the office will expand by 40% within the same building with approximately 4,500 ft 2 in total.
Storage Server: The Company has also made significant investments in its IT setup, not least of which is its data storage and management capabilities. With approximately 4 terabytes of off-line hardware facility; and with scalable terabytes of on-line capacity through its Media Asset Management set-up, Dickenson has ensured adequate data protection and storage capabilities.
